Interim Evaluation Workshop AI-KPPKS: Strengthening Patient Education in Cervical Cancer Care

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Center for Reproductive Health at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne, hosted the Interim Evaluation Workshop on Patient Education AI-KPPKS at Loman Park Hotel, Yogyakarta. The event gathered clinicians, researchers, and residents from UGM’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Program as part of a pilot study conducted across four partner hospitals.

The workshop aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of patient education materials, fact sheets and flipcharts, in improving communication between healthcare providers and cervical cancer patients. The evaluation revealed remarkable outcomes: patients reported 100% satisfaction with the materials, demonstrated improved understanding of cervical cancer, and showed greater confidence in asking questions and engaging in discussions with doctors. For healthcare providers, the materials helped standardize information delivery, although operational challenges such as limited consultation time and heavy workloads remain.

“The evaluation clearly shows that patients felt more confident, satisfied, and better informed when using AI-KPPKS materials. This is a crucial step in ensuring that patient education truly supports their journey of care”, said Professor Linda Rae Bennett, researcher at the Nossal Institute for Global Health.

This workshop marks an important step in ensuring that patient education is not only informative but also empowering. With continuous improvements and strong institutional collaboration, AI-KPPKS is expected to support more informed decision-making and improve the quality of care for cervical cancer patients in Indonesia.
